Google is experimented function that allow surfers vote on search results, and/or recommend other results than those given. This is first randomly tested on some users before you can found it as option in google (if it pass the test of course)
Shame on you !! iGoogle it’s simple google home page but with extra personnalisation tools, RRS, application, weather, clock, games, …. everything you can imagine. Just addd “/ig” after your country google or on www.google.com/ig
The next version of iGoogle that brings social applications is tested (april) in a small number of randomly selected Google accounts.
The new iGoogle places the tabs on the left-hand side of the page and you can expand the tabs to see the list of gadgets and status information, like the number of unread Gmail messages. There’s a new chat feature borrowed from Gmail that lets you chat with your contacts while visiting iGoogle - that means iGoogle gets a sense of presence because you’ll know when your contacts are online. Since the chat feature will be enabled by default, it’s obvious that Google will be able to add options for sharing items and discussing posts with the contacts that are online.
iGoogle also adds a list of updates from your contacts similar to Facebook’s newsfeed: you can see stories shared by your contacts in Google Reader, recent photos uploaded to Picasa Web Albums, Google Talk status messages, shared iGoogle themes and gadgets.
Another change is that gadgets have an expanded interface, called canvas view. Gadgets authors will take advantage of this to display more information and make their gadgets more interactive, while your feeds can be read in a Google Reader-like interface. In the future, iGoogle will support OpenSocial applications and the transformation to a social site will be complete.
When is this plan to be life ? Summer time, sunshine…
If Google cannot find something, it doesn’t exist. That has been one of the biggest drawbacks to creating a Website or application that displays itself as a Flash file.
Search engines could see the file, but they could not see what was in it. Until now. Adobe has come up with a way for the search engines to read SWF files and index all of the information they contain.
That means any text or links in a Flash application can now be indexed. This is a huge step forward for Adobe and anyone who develops in Flash/Flex.
Adobe announced, yesterday, that it is working with (search engines) Google and Yahoo to make flash files (in the SWF format) searchable. This includes existing SWF content across all versions of the SWF file format. If you have ever been in any capacity that entailed wrestling with this issue, chances are.
It only the text in the Flash (no pics no movies), it’s not really a new stuff but a new way of doing it, specially for the RIA application (rich application)

And I take the opportunity to tell you what i think of this Tools –> EASY you have to use it.
Again this Analytic tool from Google is one of the best tool for webstatitics and it’s free (depending of the volume of course, but if you use Google Adwords then it’s stays free).
You can do whatever you want with it and it’s really user friendly (again you need a Google Account)
Some extract: “Google Analytics has only been available for about two years, but is already used by one third of the top 500 websites in the world.
We here at Pingdom use Google Analytics ourselves and were curious to see how many of the top web properties out there use it. We put the Alexa global top 500 websites under the microscope and found that 161 out of these 500 websites are using Google Analytics, which is 32.2%.”
So after having a good title on your page you have to create a related content on the page.
Here are the main rules :
Gold rule : you need page with CONTENT
Seems logical but it’s the base, you have to have the same words in the content than in your title, put those words also in your content heading
Only visible text, finish to hidden content like “sex” to have more visit, isn’t working anymore
Bold, Title (H1,2…), link,… give info to Google what is important for you
All pages must be linked
I will point this later on, but inside links are VERY important
The name of the links avoid « more info » « more » (anchor text)
Occurrence : Repeat yourself on the same page (3-4 times the key word)
One language
Use : female, male, singular, plural
Synonimes
This one seems logical but it’s one of the most important, try to use all the possibles words surfers can use to find your page. A very good tools : Google trends
Here are the others rules :
Localization of the text top > bottom in weight
Size of the page (100 words minimum but 1 theme)
Ratio of density 3-5 % = number of keywords/total of the words on the page
Proximity of the words between them
Order of the word (“travel to marocco” and “marocco travel”)
Don’t forget to be technically correct
Use html balise
Use CSS
Try to be W3C correct, you can check your page directly on
My tips
use Google Trends to select which word/synomim you use
use firefox addons to make your live easier
for the link “more info” if you use an image and you have not other choice one solution is to use the alternate text of the image to give the information needed to the Search Engines
If you use Gmail (free webmail), you have 6 Gig of space, seems a lot for e-mail but now you can turn it into a FREE virtual harddrive
GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium.
GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag’n'drop files to.
If you have to do 1 optimization THEN IS THE TITLE
It’s you BRAND IMAGE
It’s what you see en top of the page, on google result and when save a bookmark
That’s what make the surfer « clic »
How to improve it:
-Between 6 to 7 description words without stop words
-Every page has its own title
-Avoid generic terms like « Welcome on our website »
-Title has to give as much « keyword » as possible
-Title is the resume of the page
-One langue in the title
-Title must be more and more clear and describe the structure of the page
-It has to be a sentence to give people to need to clic
My tips
- Well, The most important thing is to try to have something like a sentence but a list of the most keywords linked to the page content.
For an home page if you take my example “Siemens électroménager” (home appliances) when I took the main product families to start, then the main big services
Well i have a personnal e-mail link to my internet provider but this one receive so much spam that at the end time is waisted.
My solution was to use Gmail and his spam filter know as the best one in the word FOR FREE !!!
It just forward all my e-mail address to my Gmail account it’s easy and now the dream is coming true : i have no more spam, i have a web-based solution to check my e-mail and i even use the pop3 solution of Gmail to download all those cleaned e-mail again on my personnal outlook.
I’m starting from today to write on online manual how to use Google and all the existing tools in you daily work.
First things to do : CREATE a Google Account (Gmail account).
What’s Google Account or a Gmail Account Gmail is for “G” for Google and “mail” for e-mail
It’s the webbase solution from Google to have an e-mail address.
But more than that it’s the central login system us by Google to log on all it’s differents tools. It’s really you futur “Google Account”, you will have to use it to register to all the services propose by Google from youtube, Google for Webmaser to Google Calendar…
Hints when creating your Account When creating this account, create it not with your name but with your company/department name. So if somebody take your job over you can give him/her the login and password without “personnal information”.
e.g. of the e-mail/login : companyname_yearofcreation@gmail.com.
